I personally want to thank all of our local hydro workers for their efforts in restoring power to thousands of homes in Whitby and the entire Region of Durham since Saturday’s storm that devastated so many. While many residents have had their power restored, I know that our partners at Elexicon are working around the clock to get everyone back up and running. The Town of Whitby is sharing the following important information for residents affected by the recent storm:
If residents have additional food waste to dispose of due to power outages, they can put it out with their regular black bag garbage collection, over and above their normal four-bag limit until June 13. Bags must weigh less than 20 kilograms (44 pounds).

Residents are advised temporary parking lot and trail closures remain in place as a result of restoration work being undertaken by the Federal Government’s Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada to the West Whitby Pier.

The Town of Whitby would like to advise residents and local businesses of the following road closure that will be in place starting May 24, 2022.
Full road closure of Country Lane from Taunton Road to Christine Elliott Avenue commencing May 24, 2022. The estimated re-opening date is June 4, 2022. Follow Detour D-1
There will be on-site signage to advise drivers of the road closure.
